She's just so artsy

I have a friend who is just so artsy, I had to show you some of her stuff.  Her name's Desiree Habicht and I first met her at quilt market in 2010.  She also designs fabrics for Red Rooster, and you may know her for her Lil Miss Cutie Patootie character... so cute!

You can see how cute Lil Miss Cutie Patootie is, but she does just about every kind of art you can imagine and it is so fun to look at.  I love to go to her blog and just study her art.  Here's a picture she recently had on The Sketchbook Challenge...

I really like this one!  Of course, I'm a sucker for dogs :o) 

She does journaling combining her ideas, thoughts, and activities for the day along with sketches, paintings, etc in her journal.  So inspiring I want to try it!  Although, I'm not that kind that can just quickly sketch out a beautiful picture... I would probably have to start it one day and finish it two days later.  Mine could be an every-third-day journal :o)

I practice the art of chai tea

These are some sketches I did last year while sitting in our booth at fall quilt market in Houston.  During the lulls, it's nice to have something to do.  Although, it would be even better if we didn't have the lulls :o)

Tea Time

Boy, you guys were just waiting for a tea towel sale!  We posted our sale and the tea towels just disappeared!  So, the towel sale is over, and we wanted to thank everyone for such great participation :o)  

We just got a brand new shipment of fresh, new towels today.  We thought it was time to get a new look in towels, and some inspiring new designs to go with them.  I am working on a new line of patterns SPECIFICALLY for tea towels.  Once I get them sent off to the printer, I'll post some pics for you to see and start your planning :o)  And watch for the new tea towels to be posted to our website next week!

 
 

Carrot Juice

My daily sketching these days has been for a new fabric line for next year.  Here's a little peek.  My favorite part is the little toddler bunny drinking his bottle... carrot juice, of course!  I can't wait to start coloring everything, although I have some other projects to wrap up before I do.  I'll tell you more about those later :o)

 
 

It's Sketchy...

I thought I would start posting some of my sketches for your amusement :o)  Sketching is one of my favorite things to do.  It's relaxing, fun, and always an adventure to see what I end up with.  Sometimes I have the whole thing pictured in my head, as I have spent several hours pondering it in the shower, "watching" my husbands favorite shows, doing laundry... and other times, I sit down and say, "What shall I sketch today?"  I've been trying to make it a daily ritual, to get the kids off to school, exercise (on my good days), shower, and then sit down with my coffee, slippers, sketchbook, a fistful of pencils, and the much needed eraser.  Some of them, probably the majority, are specific sketches for new patterns or fabrics.  Sometimes, It's an idea I have, that ends up not being quite right for any current projects, but, maybe down the line.

So, I thought I would just throw some into my blog, here and there, to show you what I've been working on, or maybe a particular sketch is appropriate for the moment.  I even made a new category (at right) called, "It's Sketchy...," so you can view them all as I post more and more!  My first Sketchy picture is the girl and her pup, below.  We kept getting teased, as March weather often does, with a sprinkling of good weather days that make us say, "Ahhhh... spring."  And then it snows again.  So this sketch has been me, wishing for warmer days...
