(Me sitting with host Mary Fons just before taping Quilt with the Stars!)
Well, I blogged about a month ago that I did something really fun and exciting, and I would tell you all about it...
I am the VERY FIRST GUEST on a brand new show called, Quilt with the Stars, with host Mary Fons! I couldn't believe it! They are starting a new series, a GREAT concept, where they pick one designer for each issue of Love of Quilting Magazine and they tell all about that designer. Most of the time magazines feature designers and just have a short blurb about them, give you their project, etc., but this show takes it to a whole new level. They show the designer in the magazine... their studio, an interview about them, how they got started designing, AND the free project! But then they also have additional content on their website like tips from the designer, more information to help you with the free design shown in the magazine... then you can go to qnntv.com and watch the episode of Quilt with the Stars featuring the designer!
The show includes three segments consisting of an interview, "getting to know" the designer, then we got to show the free project and walk through the process, giving helpful hints, etc. Then I got to do a trunk show to show some of my favorites and my latest and upcoming creations. And I have to say, Mary Fons is a delight. I'm a fairly quiet person who doesn't like spotlight, giving speeches, anything that involves me in front of many people, but she made it SOOOO easy. She's great at what she does and is so engaging. She put me right at ease. Thanks, Mary!
While I waited for my turn to tape, I got to watch the great Marianne and Mary Fons "do their thing." They are both so at ease in front of the camera, and it was so neat to see the two of them interacting, revealing little secrets and funny stories about themselves. I felt like I was right there in the conversation.
It was such a great experience and, obviously, a great opportunity for The Wooden Bear. The issue of Love of Quilting that I will appear in is the January/February 2012 issue (available now.) The qnntv.com show will be showing the entire month of December, and I believe you can even access it beyond that since it will posted to YouTube! (See link above.) AND, not only can you see the video, but they have a wonderful slideshow showing me and my studio! Click on the link at top to see it all!
Special thanks to my favorite fabric company, Red Rooster Fabrics ;o), for the sponsorship!
